Questions about official Johnson County criminal records belong with the office that created or keeps the record. The Johnson County Sheriff handles its reports and jail files, while the Clerk of Superior Court keeps filed criminal cases. Georgia Bureau of Investigation channels cover statewide criminal histories. The contacts below route each request to its proper custodian.

This Is Not a Government Office. This privately operated reference site cannot retrieve or correct a criminal record, perform an official background check, or accept a record-restriction filing. Those services must come from the responsible government agency.

  • State criminal histories: follow the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Georgia Crime Information Center process; Georgia Felon Search is limited to possible matches for final Georgia felony convictions
  • Record restriction: pre-July 2013 arrests generally begin with the arresting agency, while later arrests begin with the prosecutor; a separate court-sealing petition may go to the clerk
  • 911 records: for events on or after March 18, 2024, use the Johnson County 911 Center request form and custodian channel; earlier records remain with the agency that created them

The sheriff and clerk have different files. Call before traveling because the clerk sources publish both 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. opening times, and the clerk states that it does not correspond by email. County administration at 2484 West Elm Street, 478-864-3388, can route a general request but is not a substitute for the record custodian.
